I had the pleasure and honour to be asked to become a founding member of the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Cosmopolitan and it was therefore very touching to attend the Presidential Handover Ceremony and meet old friends at the Merit Premium Hotel and enjoy a splendid evening meal and music that had been organised in a wonderful setting overlooking the sea.

Fridays for us are always manic days with the final preparation of our online weekly Enewspaper and we were so sad we could not be with our friends at Rotary Club of Kyrenia Cosmopolitan at a very important event they were hosting today but like everything else they are doing, they saved our day by sending us the following breaking news.

Living in a clean environment is a topic on most people’s lips in North Cyprus and many people try hard to help stem the rubbish issue by cleaning up rubbish left by people, the wind or the sea and on 6th May 2018 the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Cosmopolitan were at the Alagadi beach for yet another of their beach cleaning events and this is what they had to say.

Last week I reported on the meeting of Rotary Clubs of North Cyprus and South Cyprus together with Rotary International President Ian Riseley at the Buyuk Han before they all walked to the Ledra Palace crossing and then into the buffer zone where they planted the first tree as part of President Ian’s “Tree Planting Challenge”
