Bavarian Recipes –
“Obatzder” (“crushed spicy cheese”)

This spread of cheese, butter and spices is typically Bavarian and goes well with beer and pretzels or bread.
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 200 grams of well-ripened Camembert
- 50 grams butter tempered
- 1 – 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese (over here you can take “Süzme” yogurt or “Labne” cream cheese as well)
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika powder
- 2 radishes
- 1 spring onion
- 2 teaspoons chopped chives
Combine the butter with the camembert in a bowl, “crush” the cheese and the butter with a fork until the mixture is well connected.
Slowly mix in the cottage cheese or Süzme yogurt or Labne cream cheese.
Peel the onion, chop finely and mingle into the cheese mixture.
Season with salt, pepper and sweet paprika powder.
Leave it in a cool place, let it rest for one hour to allow the flavour to develop.
Decorate it with sliced radishes, spring onions and chopped chives.
