The Kings Leisure Centre was the venue for the 2nd Tulips Ladies Pink Bowling Event which was held following the successful event last year.
There was a truly fabulous turnout of lovely ladies many sporting pink attire (the real pink ladies of Girne!) to support this event. Several teams of “mixed ability” competed. I say mixed ability because many ladies (myself included) had not picked up a bowling ball in decades and we had enormous fun, with huge cheers when we actually managed to knock a skittle over. I was thrilled to achieve a score of 98 (and a potentially dislocated finger that didn’t disengage from the bowling ball before it careered down the alley….and into the gutter!).
Sandy Smith went on to win the “competition” outright – many congratulations. But the real winners of course were Tulips who benefitted to the tune of 5000tl on the night.
From the serious (?) business of bowling we went on upstairs to enjoy some delicious food catered by Kings and some amazing “pink” cakes made especially for the event by a patron of Tulips. There was a fantastic raffle with some amazing prizes. Well now the dancing and fun could begin. Katie B rocked out some tunes old and modern and the ladies let their hair down with a great conga to the “love train”-with one or two of them ending up on top of the tables.
It was a great night, most enjoyable and a credit to those who worked so hard to make it a success.
