By Margaret Sheard …
Most people in North Cyprus, and further afield, are aware of the continuing problem of street animals and those which may end up in a shelter where they could remain for many years, and the need to re-home these poor unwanted dogs and cats.
On Saturday, 2nd June, there will be a fundraising event for the Vadili dogs which will include lunch and a talk at The Courtyard, Karakum, starting at 12 noon. The event is hosted by Altin Patilar Dernegi, who have found forever homes or foster homes for many dogs but there are still many in kennels or foster care needing help. The speaker following the lunch is Merter Oktem of Dogmental and he will be talking about dog psychology and the problems faced with the rescues and will demonstrate how to deal with some problems. Merter’s wife,
Aysum, is a master dog trainer at Dogmental. This should be a very interesting talk for dog lovers, owners and those who may be contemplating giving a dog a forever home.
Lunch will be a 2-course meal, choice from the menu below, for 50TL, drinks not included. To book food call Margaretha on 0533 884 8798. There will also be a raffle with some nice prizes to be won.

Everyone will be welcome to come along and give support to the people who are trying so hard to deal with the ever increasing unwanted strays and abandoned animal population of North Cyprus.
There are a number of other organisations and their teams of volunteers who are doing as much as they can to not only reduce the stray animal population but to also find forever homes for these unfortunate animals and they all need as much support as possible.
