There have already been celebrations in the TRNC for the expatriate communities of Scotland, Wales and Ireland for St Andrew, St David and St Patrick in the TRNC and now it is the turn of the English with St George’s Day and on the 23rd April there will be a celebration at The Courtyard in Karakum starting at 7pm.
There will be a 2-course meal for 50TL with a choice from the menu shown below and music will be provided by Gavin Simons from 8pm.
How many people realise that 23rd April is also William Shakespeare’s birthday? This is not going to be forgotten as there will be a short excerpt from Henry V, a very rousing piece which will be enjoyed by all.
This sounds as if it will be a very enjoyable evening so if you would like to join the celebration and book a table please call 0533 860 6815 or 0392 815 3343.

We have news of an exciting event from the Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch, so for all of those horse-racing fans this should be a good event to attend. The Aintree Grand National has been and gone and now we have our very own Grand National here in North Cyprus on Good Friday 18th April at The Courtyard Inn, Karakum from 2pm.
Çatalkoy resident and branch member Eddie Hollely is organising the event.
Mr. Hollely said: “I am hosting a day at the races on behalf of the Royal British Legion. As usual there will be seven races, the last one being the final. The winners of the first six races enter the final and the winning owner of the final will receive prize money. You will be able to bet on each race as any times as you like and you can bet on as many horses in each race as you like. There is big money to be won and it is all for a good cause.”
He continued: “This is not horse racing on film and there is audience participation, you can even be a jockey, and there will be food and drink on sale during the day. The Courtyard Inn owner Mo is also serving a special priced meal in the evening and then to complete your entertainment Kelvin will be providing the music from 7pm.”
For details you can contact Mr. Hollely on O533 836 5259.
A date for the diary perhaps!

We have been made aware of the death of 77 year old Mary Emmerson on Monday 24th February at a hospital in York in the UK. Although we didn’t know Mary personally, there are many who became good friends during her frequent visits to her leased home in Bellapais, North Cyprus and she will be sadly missed by them.
Mary was a psychiatric nurse in the UK before retiring, she was very active, she was a keen swimmer and loved travelling, making many friends in other countries who often visited her in North Cyprus.
She is to be cremated at Wakefield, in Yorkshire, at 10am (UK time) on Thursday 6th March, and her ashes will be scattered in Cumbria.
Here in North Cyprus, her friends will be gathering to remember her at the Courtyard Inn, Karakum on Thursday 6th March at 12 noon (Cyprus time) to coincide with the Cremation in the UK, and anyone who knew her and would like to attend will be very welcome.
This is a lovely way to remember and feel part of the funeral ceremony of someone who has sadly departed.
