Rotary Club of Kyrenia Cosmopolitan Auction results

Great Food, Great Music, & Great Bargains!

A jaw-dropping 11,953tl was raised in just one spectacular afternoon of fundraising at Jessic Bar & Restaurant in Karsiyaka on behalf of the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Cosmopolitan.

Yesilyurt Special Needs School near Lefke will be the beneficiary of 100% of this towards classroom improvement projects, and special needs teaching equipment. Special needs education in North Cyprus is woefully under funded and community support is vital to providing quality education to students with learning difficulties.

Auctioneer Carl Rugg had warned that his voice might hold out as a mega 84 lots went under the hammer, but he still managed to get the happy crowd to part with their pennies for even the most unlikely of lots. From crocheted dolls to 50 year old bottles of QEII whisky, the bids came thick and fast.

The creme de la creme proved to be a prize donated by Olive Press Bowls in Lapta – the bids for membership for 2 reached record high for Charity Auctions at Jessic’s.

Proprietor Mus Aziz donated a further 5tl from every BBQ meal sold, and over 1300tl of raffle tickets went as well, as regulars and holidaymakers dug deep for this good cause.

It wasn’t all about the money though, as colourfully dressed popular crooner and Friend of Rotary Peter Dawson had everyone joining in on classics by Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, and Michael Buble.

The next Rotary Club of Kyrenia Cosmopolitan Auction event is already planned for late January, and items can be stored from now. All lots should be in good working order, and of any shape or size.
