Our friend John Aziz Kent wanted to make Tuesday 28th March special for his wife Valerie on the occasion of her birthday and so he invited a few friends for an afternoon meal at the Horseshoe Beach Restaurant and Bar. It was a party of 9 people as John wanted a small group so the conversation could be shared easily.
When we arrived it was such a nice sunny afternoon and it was decided to sit outside overlooking the sea so there was a quick re-arrangement of tables to accommodate us all. Cards and presents were given to Valerie and she was thrilled with the kind thoughts. She had been given a beautiful orchid which took pride of place on the table, together with the contribution of a vase of flowers from Apo Arslan, the owner, who has run the restaurant for the last 20 years..
The first course started to arrive, with various mezes, salad, chips, potatoes and nice fresh bread, which was a feast by itself. Then came a serving of octopus, followed by the main course which was a choice of meat, chicken or fish. It was a very leisurely meal, with everyone enjoying the food and chatting together. As if this was not enough we were then served with several platters of fresh fruit and coffee or tea. I think we were all extremely full but thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon to wish Valerie a Happy Birthday.
Apo and his helpers were very attentive and we had excellent service. With the lovely view from the terrace area and the very peaceful location, it makes this venue a very pleasant place to visit and experience traditional Cypriot culture and cuisine.
