Double Celebration at Salty’s
Restaurant in Karakum
By Chris Elliott
What a great week this was with a double celebration in Karakum and the first was for Yusuf Agaoglu the proprieter of Salty’s Fish and Chip restaurant which he opened 1 year ago and is fast building a large following of diners who go there for their weekly treat or call in for a takeaway. As a dog lover he decided he wanted to make a difference to the plight of unwanted animals.
So he arranged another great celebration for KAR who were presented with a cheque for 1000TL as a donation by Yusuf to help them in their ongoing task of looking after so many unwanted cats and dogs. It was so good to be there to record the occasion when a delighted Margaret Ray and her team, together with representatives from the Near East Bank, were warmly greeted by Yusuf as he presented a giant cheque.
Interestingly, Yusuf had previously had premises in Ozanköy and prior to returning to North Cyprus he was the chef at the Blue Dolphin Restaurant in Hastings for 16 years.
To our local readers, do make a point of treating yourselves at Salty’s to some genuine Cod or Haddock and who knows, perhaps next year Yusuf will be able to help the Kyrenia Animal Rescue again. Please click here to learn more of Salty’s tempting mouthfuls.
