Erdoğan Renews Call for TRNC Recognition at UN

At the UN General Assembly, President Erdoğan renewed his call for TRNC recognition, stressing the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Erdoğan Calls for Recognition of Turkish Cypriot Rights

In his address to the 81st session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York, the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, once again called on the international community to recognise the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

He stated: “The sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people must be recognized, and the inhumane isolation to which they have been subjected must finally come to an end. I call upon the international community to recognize and establish political, diplomatic, and economic relations with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

In the Aegean Sea and in the Eastern Mediterranean, we wish to see existing issues resolved on the basis of good-neighbourly relations and in accordance with international law. Our proposal for an Eastern Mediterranean Conference will contribute to establishing common ground”.
