The employees of Girne Municipality participated in a walk in the name of breast cancer which was organised by the Association for Helping Cancer Patients on the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Girne Mayor, Nidai Güngördü, said in a statement on the subject, that 1 in 8 women in the world, and around 150-200 annually in the TRNC, are diagnosed with breast cancer. He stated that municipality employees participated in the support march to create awareness by wearing pink.
Güngördü pointed out the importance of early detection of cancer within the scope of awareness studies and stated that they want to organise a seminar on early diagnosis and importance of breast cancer awareness for female students in the coming days.
