Sylvia Austin who lives in Karmi collected donations throughout Lent for Tulips (Help Those with Cancer Association), she was asking people to donate one item of clothing a day throughout the 40 days of Lent after which the collection would be given to Tulips to sell on their stall at Lambousa Saturday Market.
This initiative was very widely supported and Sylvia ended up collecting three car loads of clothes donations.
Lynda Hillard who runs the stall at Lambousa said so many of the donations were of a very good quality, even some brand new items with the price tags still on them, and this has helped boost takings on the stall during May, which is looking as though it could be a record month.
On Saturday at Lambousa Market Raziye presented Sylvia with a certificate and a bouquet of silk tulips handmade by Tulips staff.
