A much needed English type Café/Bar opened in Ozanköy on Saturday 7th April, which is situated on the main Girne to Çatalköy road in a new block of shops (opposite Erdener Supermarket). Good news for British expatriates.
We went along to meet the Manager, Tim Gale, to see the new café and find out what they will be offering. It is a double unit so very spacious and inside it is very tastefully furnished and comfortable.
There is also an outside dining area, which again is very smart. Not only is it a great place to meet with friends but upstairs there is seating for 10 to 12 people so it is an ideal location for those who want to have a private party or hold a meeting.
In this complex there are a wide choice of new shops opening so this will prove to be a popular place to visit for those who do not want to spend their time driving into the centre of Girne.
Initially the cafe will be open for breakfast and lunch, with the bar continuing into the evening, but it is intended to also do evening meals later when the café has been running for a while. There is a range of different types of breakfast, including vegetarian (I was pleased to note!) and the lunch menu offers a nice range of meals.
Tim told us a little about himself – he is originally from London and lived in North Cyprus from 2003 and 2007, he then returned to the UK to live in Derbyshire. In March 2018 he decided to return to North Cyprus and having made contact with some of his previous business associates, he agreed to run the café under the name of Tim’s Café/Bar.
Many people will remember Libby from Five Finger Restaurant in Ozankoy and we found that her 2 children, Sacha and Tomas are both now helping at Tim’s Café. Breakfasts will be prepared by Estelle together with Çimen who will also be looking after the lunchtime meals.
We will soon be sampling breakfast at Tim’s Café and we wish him and his staff well in their new venture which we are sure is going to be a very welcome addition to the area.
