The “Turkish Cypriots Artists Retrospective exhibition ” was opened on 25th January 2018 in the exhibition hall of the Near East University Hospital.The Ex Speaker of the TRNC National Assembly Dr. Sibel Siber inaugurated the exhibition.

The exhibition , consisting of 18 paintings, representing the first and second generation of the Turkish Cypriot artists  born in the period 1890-1950.

Explaining the main idea behind this exhibition, Dr. Mustafa Hastürk, the organiser and curator of the exhibition, termed it as a milestone in national art, as it brings to light the works of the Turkish Cypriots artists of that period. He mentioned that many more artwork of different artists from different periods of time would be exhibited. He declared this exhibition as a community project to consolidate and save the works of the old masters, for which a separate catalogue was also published.

 

Speaking at the occasion the chief guest , Dr. Sibel Siber, congratulated the Near East University and the organisers of the exhibition for patronising and supporting the artists. She said that this particular exhibition is a very positive step and contribution to the local culture.

The exhibition will remain open until 23rd February.
