Working as a producer and presenter for Bayrak Radio and Television and then having the opportunity of writing about my forthcoming shows on cyprusscene.com is a great joy.
On Thursday 23rd November I went along with my camera crew for my Vox Pop programme on BRT 2 TV to The Fez, in Çatalköy to be with the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT) where they were holding their first Christmas Party.
There were many people to talk to including Sadie, Dj Mancini, Dominic Holmes, Teresa Cefa, Wendy Anderson, and our very own Radio Angel, Denise Philips from Bayrak International Radio.
It was a great party night with entertainment from Dj Mancini who was born in Italy and then Sadie who sang her heart out and to complete the evening Dominic Holmes kept us all in the Christmas spirit.
During the evening with NCCCT, I had the opportunity to talk to their Chairperson, Wendy Anderson and this is how she has summed up the evening on their NCCCT Facebook page.
This was our first Christmas Party and our thanks go to everyone at The Fez for looking after us so well and to everyone who bought tickets and supported us.
We did not have a Raffle but we did have Secret Santa Christmas presents which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The gifts included an overnight stay with half board at the beautiful Malpas Hotel, a must for Christmas – a tin of Quality Street, Christmas Port, Santa’s favorite tipple – Grants Whisky, a Christmas hair-do by the fabulous Funky Divas and lots more!
Huge thanks to the amazing entertainers – Sadie who sang her heart out, the adorable man who is Dave Mancini and the incredible Dominic Holmes. These three artists gave their time and their talent for free for the Charity.
We auctioned a beautiful homemade Christmas cake baked by one of our team and this was successfully bid for by the staff of The Fez! We thank you all.
Our secret Christmas presents and the auction raised 1200,00 TL.
With a Christmas surprise donation from the lovely Hayal of The Fez which we sincerely thank her for plus monies on the ticket sales, the amount raised at our Christmas Party was (drum roll please or Rudolph’s hooves)!
Just over 4,000. 00 TL.
This money will go into the pot of the NCCCT ready to buy vital and often lifesaving equipment for the Girne State Hospital.
We wish we could do it all again but can’t wait for our Christmas Fayre and market.
From all of us of the NCCCT – Merry Christmas (It won’t be long).
He’s Coming soon!”.
For a Fun packed Vox Pop programme do watch this space for the BRT2 transmission dates of my show which will be published very soon on cyprusscene.com.
With thanks to Janet Holmes and the NCCCT Facebook page for use of the pictures on this page.
