I am delighted together with my colleague Qossay Eleyan to bring you an interesting report on “Discovering North Cyprus” about the Dervish Pasha Mansion which is a historical mansion and ethnographic museum in the Arabahmet quarter of Lefkosa.
By popular demand, I am delighted together with my colleague Qossay Eleyan to bring you a repeat showing of our interesting report on “Discovering North Cyprus” about the Buyuk Han (the Great Inn) which is the largest caravansarai (Kervansaray) in North Cyprus and was a roadside inn where travellers could rest and recover from the day’s journey.
Two wonderful people who were the founders of the Facebook page Frozen Cypriots have been back in their homeland discovering more of our Cyprus Heritage and in my Vox Pop show I went with my camera team to the Buyuk Han in Lefkosa to meet them and a fascinating group of people who also refer to themselves as being the “Frozen Cypriots”.
In memory of the death in 1273 of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi the founder of the Whirling Dervish order I am delighted together with my colleague Qossay Eleyan to repeat our show “Discovering North Cyprus” about the Mevlana or Whirling Dervishes who perform regularly at the Bedesten, Lefkosa.
For this Vox Pop show, I went along to to the Girne home of Danish Afridi who came to Northern Cyprus in 2003 from Pakistan. He studied for a degree in Business Management at Girne American University where he graduated in 2006 and obtained a further degree in 2015 and currently works as the Night Supervisor at the Hotel Pia Bella in Girne.
By popular demand I am delighted together with my colleague Qossay Eleyan to bring you a repeat of the interesting report on “Discovering North Cyprus” which we recorded at the Kyrenia Castle. This castle is at the east end of the old harbour in Kyrenia and this 16th-century castle was built by the Venetians over a previous Crusader fortification. Within its walls lies a twelfth-century chapel and the famous Shipwreck Museum and much more for visitors to admire.
For this weeks Vox Pop programme I went with my BRT2 TV recording crew to Girne’s Dome Hotel to meet Anastasia Dbrv who moved to Northern Cyprus 5 years ago and is enjoying that very special lifestyle that can be had here.
