Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün has said that it is the duty of Turkish Cypriots “to understand and transfer the bright and foresightful ideas of Atatürk to new generations”, and to continue their commitment to his principles forever.
The Prime Minister issued the message to mark the 79th Anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s death.
He said that the TRNC is continuing its works in cooperation with the Turkish Republic to move the country forward towards greater prosperity. The Prime Minister added that as long as this cooperation continues, the TRNC will overcome all kinds of challenges, and expressed his full belief that this aspiration will be achieved.
President Akıncı to hold conference entitled “Atatürk and the Turkish Cypriots”
President Mustafa Akıncı has paid a one day visit to Ankara to hold a conference entitled “Atatürk and the Turkish Cypriots”.
President Akıncı will host the conference at the International Program for Commemorating Atatürk, organized by the Union of Turkish Bar Associations.
The President will be a guest of honour at the programme, which the presidents and representatives from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Moldova, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkey are due to attend.
President Akıncı will return to TRNC tonight.
