The RBL Kyrenia branch is getting ready to conduct their fourth consecutive ‘Proms in the Park’ event which this year will take place on Wednesday 27th September at The Wild Duck, Lapta.
Pamela Padden, the Branch Secretary, said: “Last year’s event was once again, a roaring success with nearly 200 ‘Promenaders’ raising lots of funds for this worthwhile charity. The atmosphere was fantastic and what better way to spend a warm summer’s evening than sitting in the lovely park surroundings of the Wild Duck Café in Lapta, waving flags and singing along to all those traditional favourites so beloved of Ex-Pats? If you feel inclined, you can dress up and if you don’t fancy organising a picnic there is a special ’Proms’ menu (which must be pre-booked directly with the Café) and the bar is open from 4pm. Tables of 6 and 9 are available but please bring blankets if you want to sit on the grass and remember only plastic glasses are allowed due to the danger to children playing afterwards.”
Tickets – 10TL for RBL members and 15TL for non-members – can be obtained now from the following outlets: The Wild Duck Café in Lapta, Bestseller Bookshop in Alsancak or the RBL stall at Lambousa Market each Saturday morning from the beginning of September.
The main gate at The Wild Duck will be manned and you will be expected to show your entry ticket when requested. The concert, which will be shown on 2 giant screens, will commence at 7pm and finish around 10pm.
