Thank you to everyone involved in making this such a fabulous event for these wonderful children from Ziyamet special needs school.
On Saturday 17th December 2016 fourteen very excited children came, with their parents, to the Celebi Garden Hotel, Mehmetcik, where a warm welcome awaited them for a fun time at their Christmas party. These VIP’s were children from Ziyamet special needs school and they had come along to eat, have fun, meet Father Christmas and his elves and, of course, receive presents.
The afternoon started with Christmas music and a feast fit for a king…or, in this case, Santa!
Once the food was finished the children could barely contain their excitement, as whispers ran around the room that an extra guest had arrived…the door burst open to a resounding “Ho ho ho!” and there he was in all his glory…Father Christmas himself.
As he greeted each and every guest, giving them all a chocolate bar, the children’s eyes shone and smiles stretched from ear to ear. The children then all took their turn to go and meet Father Christmas and his elves to be given presents, which they took great delight in unwrapping. There was much comparing of presents, with chatter and laughter filling the air.
The children joined in a game of “Simon Says”, such enthusiasm was a joy to see! It was time for all those present to get up and join in some dancing to traditional Turkish music. The laughter and smiles on the faces of the children, belying how tired they were becoming after such an exciting afternoon of treats and delights.
The children finally took their leave with their parents, clutching their new toys and balloons with faces aglow at the fun time they’d had. I think there would have been a few happy, sleepy heads on their journeys back home.
The members of Making a Difference (MAD) would like to say a big thank you to everyone at the Celebi Garden Hotel for making us all so welcome and for providing such lovely food.
We would also like to say thank you to the lovely ladies from the Lions whose generosity enabled these children to have such a feast and for joining us in the fun and games.
Another big thank you goes to Ian and Sharon Fletcher who kindly provided so many, wonderfully wrapped presents and also contributed to the food.
A special thank you goes to Kai and Kade, the children of Ian and Sharon, who asked if they could help the children from Ziyamet special needs school by going without some of their Christmas presents, so the money could be spent on treats for the children…THAT is the true spirit of Christmas!
We will all see you in the New Year for more fun and adventures for these amazing children.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the MAD folk!
Thank you to Sue Steel for the terrific photos
