RBL Theatre Players 2016 Pantomime : Robin Hood

By Margaret Sheard….

Although we are in the throes of summer, the RBL Theatre Players have been rehearsing through the year for the traditional pantomime which this year is Robin Hood, and is directed by Jan Marsh.  We have received an update from Major Brian Thomas, Chairman of RBL Kyrenia Branch and now give this information for the benefit of our readers.

The pantomime will be at the English School of Kyrenia theatre 17th to 19th November.  On the 17th November there will be a matinee at 10.30am and evening performance at 7.30pm and on the 18th and 19th November there will be evening performances at 7.30pm.

Please note that as the pantomime is being performed at the English School of Kyrenia (off the main road to Bellapais), no alcohol will be permitted on the campus. However the Bellapais Gardens Hotel (just up the road) will be offering a set pre-theatre meal (3 choices of starter, main and dessert) option between 5.30pm – 7pm prior to the 3 evening performances.  The menu and booking details will be advised later.

Tickets will be 35TL for adults and 20TL for children and advance bookings can be made by telephoning 0533 866 7563 or you can email pantomime.rbl@gmail.com to make a reservation.  Tickets will be available from late September at the RBL stall, Lambousa Saturday Market, where they can be paid for and collected.  All money raised will go to this year’s Poppy Appeal.

The RBL pantomimes are always very popular so don’t delay in making a reservation.

  1. As announced in Cyprus Today on 29 October, the pantomime has been forced to cancel its November performance. We hope, once a suitable and reliable venue has been located to book new dates for 2017.

    • We are dumbfounded that it has taken approximately a week to inform cyprusscene of the cancellation from when it was given to Cyprus Today for publication in their weekly newspaper. Cyprusscene publishes daily (every day of the week) and we feel that you are not making good use of other media freely available to you. Our website shares with many other social media groups as well as Facebook and NorthCyprusForum.net (the friendly forum) and give coverage to a worldwide readership.

I have sent a separate email to you airing our disappointment that we do not seem to be taken seriously by the RBL Theatre Players.

      • Well said Margaret!
Cypruscene does a lot to inform people about what is going on, but if events or dates change (for whatever reason), then the organisers do need to tell you!
