Christmas Sing-along Time with Dawn and friends
By Margaret Sheard….
The Festive Season always brings singing to the forefront, whether it be carol singing or a sing-along, most people love this time of year when they can join with their friends and others and enjoy the build up to their own celebrations on Christmas Day.
Dawn has been busy with her friends who form the group “Starlite” who we have seen entertaining for charity over the past few years and this year they have appeared at quite a few events.
The group is made up of Dawn, Anthony, Ian, Rebecca and Murat on saxophone, who all are busy in their other various jobs but love to come together and sing, especially at this time of year. Dawn is busy with her jewellery-making and singing at various hotels, Anthony works at ESTA, Ian has been busy with his role as Ali Baba in the recent RBL pantomime, Rebecca is Deputy Head at the English School of Kyrenia and Murat is studying to become a conductor. All busy people who find time to help charities at this time of year.
The Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services (112) held their annual 2-evening Sing-along events at the Mountain View Hotel in Karaoğlanoğlu on 1st and 2nd December which was a huge success and raised over 2,000TL for the charity.
On 14th December “Starlite” will be singing at The Olive Press in Lapta and this will be in aid of the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT). We understand this event is sold out.
On 15th December the group will again perform their last Sing-along at the RBL Christmas Party which is being held at The Ship Hotel, Karaoğlanoğlu. The party starts at 8pm and again is in aid of the RBL charity.
So thank you to Dawn and her friends of “Starlite”, you do a brilliant job for charity and give a lot of enjoyment for the people attending these events. What would we do without Sing-along events at this time of year?
To enjoy pictures of previous singalong events and also those which have already been held this year, see the slideshow below. There is also a nice video to watch showing The Friends Line Dancers at the 112 Singalong in 2012.
