The RBL Kyrenia Branch is looking
forward to a busy 2015
The RBL Kyrenia Branch is looking forward to a busy 2015 which will be their fourth year of operating as a registered charity here in the TRNC.
Events Secretary Commander Paul Jones explained: “We have planned a busy fundraising programme throughout 2015 at a variety of venues across the north coast. The assortment of events include our fun quiz nights, held every first Monday of the month at the Black Olive Café in Alsancak from 7pm, through to our prestigious black tie event; the ever popular Poppy Ball in early November which will once again be held at the Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel in Girne.
We are also very excited about a gala charity show to be held in late May featuring Bobby Davro who is travelling from the UK specifically to support our charity so look out for details of that event which will also be held at the Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel. Bobby is a great supporter of the RBL and he was delighted to be asked to head up a variety show on our behalf by his good friend, Karsiyaka resident and branch member, Colin Jeffries.
Our ‘Proms in the Park’ and Poppy Walk events proved hugely popular and will be making an appearance again later in the year as will the RBL Theatre Players’ delayed pantomime ‘Ali Baba and his 40 Thieves’.
We will of course be holding our bi-monthly branch meetings so why not make a note in your diary for the branch meeting being held at Chateau Lambousa (North Shield Pub) at 7pm Monday 19 January. This will be a perfect opportunity for RBL members (and non-members) to find out what we are planning for this year, see the organisation at work and enjoy an informative and entertaining post meeting talk by recently retired Commander Paul Jones on ‘the murky world of Royal Navy divers’. You should also note that we are trialling holding the AGM in October this year prior to the hectic Remembrance tide period so again we hope that you will come along and support us.
The RBL enjoys generous support from members, the general public and local hotels and businesses alike and hopefully we can repay that support with a varied entertainment programme that appeals to all while raising those all-important funds. All event details can be found on the ‘what’s on’ page of our website click here and will be widely advertised nearer the time including bulk one-way email messages to the membership. So please join in the fun and make this year as successful as previous years.”
