40th Anniversary of the Turkish Peace Operation in Cyprus

Turkish Cypriots in Melbourne celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the Turkish Peace Operation in Cyprus, that saved the Turkish Cypriot people from total annihilation in the hands of the Greek-Greek Cypriot perpetrators who made their last attempt to unite Cyprus with Greece on 15th July 1974 following a coup d’état against Makarios who preferred to eliminate the Turkish Cypriots by osmosis.

Turkish Cypriots of Melbourne gathered in the park opposite the Turkish Consulate in Melbourne to show their appreciation to the Turkish Army for their successful peace operation on 20 July 1974.

Attached is a picture and a brochure distributed to passers-by (click here to view) who were also given a red carnation to symbolise peace and friendship.
