US Vice President Biden to visit Cyprus

US Vice President – Joe Biden will arrive in Cyprus tonight (21st May). Biden is planning to meet with President Derviş Eroğlu and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades during his Cyprus visit.

US Vice President Biden’s visit will be the highest level visit from the US after 52 years break. Issues of achieving permanent peace in the island, regional security and energy are on the agenda of US Vice President Biden.

Negotiators met again

Turkish Cypriot negotiator – Kudret Özersay and Greek Cypriot negotiator – Andreas Mavroyannis met again yesterday. Following the meeting, Özersay said that some other proposals on the issue of property were made during yesterday’s meeting. Adding that experts on the property issue were present at the meeting, Özersay said that the foreign relations issue was also discussed during yesterday’s meeting.

Moreover, expressing that the meeting was very fruitful, Özersay noticed that they have reached the stage of making counter-proposals during the negotiations.

Özersay underlined that the next meeting of the negotiators will be held on 30 May, and the date of the Leaders’ meeting was determined as 2 June.
