It was reported that Former President, Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades met at lunch in the UN Buffer Zone, Nicosia yesterday (19th May).
Following the meeting, II. President Mehmet Ali Talat stated that he expressed his opinion regarding teaching the Greek language in Turkish Cypriot schools and the Turkish language in Greek Cypriot schools. Talat also stressed that this issue should be supported by media and leaders.
Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry attend Business for Peace Summit and Award Ceremony
It was stated that Vargın Varer from the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and Manthos Mavrommatis from the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in South Cyprus attended the Business for Peace Summit and Award Ceremony held in Oslo in Norway..
According to the statement of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, Varer attended the Business for Peace Summit and Award Ceremony upon invitation of Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and Business for Peace Foundation. Vargın and Mavrommatis gave speeches during the summit. In the press release of PRIO, it was stated that cooperation of Chambers in both sides of Cyprus set a good example and they are a symbol of pragmatism and foresight of evaluating economic realities and possibilities in the island.
