Association of Martyrs Families: “We strongly condemn the double standard of ECHR”

President of Association of Martyrs Families and War Veterans – Ertan Ersan expressed that they regretted the decision taken by European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) against Turkey and condemned the decision evaluated as ‘double standard’ by the Association.Ertan Ersan

Ersan stated that they have opened nearly 30 cases for the Turkish Cypriot missing persons in ECHR, however only 5 of the cases have remained on the agenda and others were refused by ECHR by considering them ‘unacceptable’. Ersan also added “we, as our Association, condemn the double standard of ECHR and we announce that we will make all necessary attempts for the investigation of the situation of Turkish Cypriot missing persons and martyrs in the same status as the Greek Cypriot missing persons in the international arena”.

Foreign Minister Nami signs book of condolence

The Minister of Foreign Affairs – Özdil Nami signed the book of condolence yesterday which was opened at the Turkish Embassy in Lefkosa for those who lost their lives in the explosion at the coal mine in Soma, Turkey. In his message of condolence, Nami expressed his deepest sadness for the disaster.

Moreover, FM Nami conveyed his condolences to the Turkish Foreign Minister – Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu by telephone.

Foreign Minister Nami receives a delegation from Istanbul Aydın University

Ozdil Nami 4The Minister of Foreign Affairs – Özdil Nami received a delegation from Istanbul Aydın University Politics Academy Turkey Research Center at the conference hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday.

During the reception, Nami informed the delegation about the history of the Cyprus problem, followed policy and the latest stage reached in Cyprus negotiations.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nami: “The most important reason is the Cyprus problem”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs – Özdil Nami gave a speech during the opening ceramony of  II. International Career Opportunities Forum and Cyprus Turkish Products Exhibition yesterday. In his speech, stressing that political and financial conditions could not be turned into opportunities in the country due to the Cyprus problem, FM Nami said that deadlock in the Cyprus problem is an obstacle for economic relations which will be beneficial for the country. FM Nami also pointed out that progress has not been made regarding the Direct Trade Regulation which can reverse the resolutions of the European Court of Justice.

Sertoğlu: “I believe that the issue will be solved until the end of 2014”

President of Turkish Cypriot Football Federation (KTFF) Hasan Sertoğlu stated that he believed that they will make an agreement with ‘Greek Cypriot Football Federation’ by the the end of yKKTFear.

Sertoğlu emphasized that if they do not reach an agreement by the the end of this year, the meetings will not continue.

President of KTFF Sertoğlu and advisor of KTFF organized a press conference together with Presidential candidate of FIFA – Jerome Champagne at KTFF Ahmet Sami Topcan Meeting Hall. Sertoğlu pointed out that the process of reaching an agreement is a difficult process, but the progress made results from the goodwill of both sides.
