KAR Fun Dog Show
By Margaret Sheard
It was a lovely warm sunny day on Sunday 6th April for the KAR Fun Dog Show which was part of the Lapta Tourism Festival and was held at The Stumble Inn, Lapta where there were crowds of people, some with their pets and some who just went along to enjoy the event.
There were many entrants for the various categories which was a lot of fun for the spectators, the dogs and their owners as they paraded to show off their best attributes. Of course there are always a few which will want to do their own thing, just like humans, but on the whole the dogs were so well behaved and I am sure their owners were so proud, especially the ones who won rosettes.
There were many stalls selling pet products and other items, the grand raffle tickets were on sale and I spotted Elaine from Upper Crust in Girne, with some of her lovely pies and pastries and also Sonja from The Food Lodge in Çatalköy, with a variety of bread and cakes, so we didn’t go hungry.
It was a very hot afternoon and I was pleased to see that there were many bowls of water around the arena for the dogs, I am sure they were feeling the heat as well as the excitement.
The event raised 1613 TL for KAR and of course there is the annual KAR Dog Show “Paws in the Park” still to come on Sunday 27th April starting at 10.30am at Bariş Park, Girne.
