TFR New

The Foreign Residents in the TRNC (TFR) will be moving to their winter meeting place of the Aeria Bar in Lapta where they will meet from 4pm every Friday.

20th October – SundayDogankoy Church There will be a coffee morning at Dogankoy Church at 11am to help raise funds for the upkeep of this beautiful building. 
21st October – MondayNCCCT logo NCCCT Bingo at the Ravine in Alsancak starting at 8pm.  The jackpot was won last time so there will be a new jackpot commencing at 700TL (50 numbers).  35TL for a book of bingo sheets and a chance of a mini Mars or Snickers Bar for winning lines or a house and of course there is the free raffle as well.   Come along and have a nice Fish & Chip meal and an enjoyable evening’s bingo with Carole and Mike. For further information contact Carole Lloyd on 0533 8600357

23rd October – WednesdayRBL The Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch will be holding a Speaker’s Lunch at The Ship Inn, 12.30 for 1pm. The speaker will be Jarra Brown MBE and he will be talking about Repatriation of the Fallen and his time at Royal Wootton Bassett.    There will be lunch of Chicken Curry followed by ice cream.    30TL for RBL members. 
24th October – ThursdayTulips logo english Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) will be releasing pink balloons as in previous years so you may like to go to Kugulu Park opposite the Turkish Embassy at 9.30am to collect your balloons and then walk to the Parliament Building at 10am where Raziye Kocasmail of Tulips will tell a Member of Parliament of the needs of the Association followed by the releasing of the balloons. ….This event is being held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month so why not wear something pink and go along to give support. 
24th October – ThursdayKAV Cancer Research Foundation sml There will be a fundraising event of a Garden Party at Tolga’s Restaurant in Karşiyaka in aid of Cancer Research Association (KAV). starting at 2pm.    There will be many stalls selling a variety of goods and entertainment by Andrew Sings….. and The Kibris Liners so plenty of entertainment for all.  There will be food and refreshments available and it is hoped to raise large amounts to help cancer research. If you would like further information or to have a stall at the Garden Party, contact Christine on 0542 872 9398 or Maria on 0533 839 5561

24th October – ThursdayOzankoy Bookshop Ozankoy Bookshop have Patricia Jordan for a Gardeners Meeting at 10.30am when she will be pleased to talk to people about plants and their gardens and will also be pleased to sign copies of her books. 
25th October – FridaySOS Childrens Villages 2 Faure’s Requiem at Bellapais Abbey at 8pm with the Lefkoșa Municipality Orchestra and the Kyrenia Chamber Choir.  Programmes for admission can be obtained from Bridget Kerr by contacting 0533 848 6038 The event is in aid of the SOS Children’s Village. 
25th October – FridayTulips logo english Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) – Pink Day. 

The Stumble Inn, Lapta  – Pink Night – payment for every draught Efes and Becks bought between 8pm and 9pm will go into the charity box.  There will be entertainment and a BBQ from 7.30pm to 10pm. 

Corner House Restaurant, Ozankoy – Pink Night.

Quiz night and they are asking everyone to wear pink and donate 5TL to Tulips.  There will be a prize for the music quiz and all money raised from that quiz will be donated to Tulips.  There will also be a prize for the best dressed “Pink” person.

Enjoy pink cocktails, pink wine and anything else they can think of – pink.  There will also be a donation to Tulips from sales of these drinks.

26th October – SaturdayBritish Residents BRS Blood Donor Day.  10am to 1pm at Girne State Hospital. 3 months must elapse between donations.

2nd November – SaturdayRBL Logo The Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch, Poppy Ball will be at the Vuni Palace Hotel, Karakum starting at 7pm.  4-course meal with unlimited local drinks from 7.30pm to midnight. Tickets 110TL for members and 120TL non-members available from the RBL stall at Lambousa Saturday market, to reserve phone 0533 859 2451.  Dress code : Black tie/lounge suits.   There will be music by the Rock and Roll Rebels plus a late night disco with DJ Max and a raffle and auction will also take place during the evening. A very popular event, so don’t delay in reserving tickets.

9th November – SaturdayKar new sml Bonfire Night at Lambousa Market site.  Gates open at 5pm.  The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks will be around 7.30pm (to be confirmed by the Fire Service).  Food and drink will be available throughout the evening and there will be games, stalls and entertainment for all.All proceeds from the games and stalls will be donated to Kyrenia Animal Rescue.Entrance is by advance tickets bought at Lambousa Market – 12.50TL for adults and 10TL for children.  Or on the night entrance is 15TL.There will be plenty of parking available.For more information please telephone 0533 8624662
9th November – SaturdayRBL Logo The Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch, Poppy Walk will start and finish at JK’s in Lapta, starting at 11am.  The route of 5km and 10km will include the new coastal footpath, by kind permission of the Lapta Belediyesi.  The event is being sponsored by JK’s and Dağli Sigorta.  Registration and sponsorship forms can be obtained from the RBL stall at Lambousa Market or from the Courtyard Inn, Karakum. 
10th November – SundayRBL Logo Remembrance Sunday at the Old British Cemetery followed by lunch at The Ship Inn.    More details later. 
12th November – TuesdayNCCCT logo The NCCCT will be holding their November Coffee Morning at Di Figaro in Karaoglanoglu starting at 10.30am.  This looks like another lovely venue for this event. There will be stalls selling all sorts of items and with Christmas not too far away this may be a good opportunity to look for some early Christmas presents. 
13th November – WednesdayTulips logo english There will be a fundraising event for Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) at Cengiz’s Restaurant, Alkan Village, Esentepe.  This will be a Race Night with the first race starting at 7.30pm.  20TL will include Chicken & Chips, Fish & Chips or a Vegetarian option and a donation will be made to Tulips.  Booking essential with a deposit by calling Cengiz on 0533 869 7512. If you want to be an Owner/Jockey please contact Ivor on 0533 839 5380 but note that slots are going fast. All welcome, including non-diners, but as dining spaces are limited you would be wise to book early. This should be a good night so why not go along and have a flutter. 
13th November – WednesdayFriends of the TRNC Emergency Services The Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services will be holding their Afternoon Tea Talk at 3pm and the speaker will be Steve Sydenham talking about the subject he didn’t have time for at his last talk – “the Ugly” which will be covering some of the less than nice people and celebrities in the motor racing world.  This should be very amusing and interesting. There is of course the nice afternoon tea and the raffle plus Mike’s goodie bag to look forward to as well. To book your place contact Brenda on 0533 840 7834 or Jenny on 0533 876 1483

7th and 8th December.   Saturday and SundayFriends of the TRNC Emergency Services The Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services will be opening their “Santa’s Grotto” at the Mountain View Hotel for the local schools and all children who would like to come along and visit Santa.  This is going to be a superb grotto which will delight children of all ages.

18th December – WednesdayDogankoy Church The group who look after the upkeep of Dogankoy Church have arranged a pre-Christmas lunch at 1pm at Al Shaheen Restaurant in Karakum.  This will be 35TL per person and consists of a 2-course meal followed by tea/coffee and a liqueur.
