19th September 2012

This page is to inform readers of the results of various charitable events and will be updated on a regular basis.  If you have news of North Cyprus events you would like to share, please submit these through the comments box.

The NCCCT Bingo Night at the Ravine in Alsancak on Monday 17th September resulted in 39 players, some being visitors, which was a very good turnout and 985TL goes to the charity,  The jackpot has still not been won so there is still a rollover of 1200TL for the next Bingo night which will be on Monday 15th October.

RBL Kyrenia Branch received the sum of 270TL for the Poppy Appeal Fund which had been raised at the Ladies Speaker’s Lunch on 19th June.

(RBL) – John Oram, who sadly passed away this year, had been the Poppy Distributor for North Cyprus and his wife, Sandy, has asked that RBL now take over this responsibility.  Les Evans, the Vice Chairman, has volunteered to do this.

The Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services received 2,600TL from the talk given at the Pia Bella Hotel on 1st September, and there was a further 520TL raised at the Tea Talk at the Mountain View Hotel on 12th  September.

RBL would be pleased if anyone travelling to the UK and returning to North Cyprus  during the next 2 months, could bring back some red, white and blue balloons which are needed for the Poppy Ball in November.

RBL Kyrenia Branch raised £5,000 during the Poppy Appeal last year and they are hoping to double that amount this year.

An amount of 2,268TL was raised at Soyz Market on Sunday 16th September, for Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips).  The volunteers would like to thank all those people who donated clothes, toys, kitchenware etc. which resulted in this impressive amount.
