The Courtyard Inn, Karakum

The Courtyard Inn in Karakum is always a nice place to go for a meal or for a drink in their very pleasant bar.  The building was originally an old colonial house and was converted into an “olde worlde” restaurant and bar some 30 years ago.  It lies back from the main road and is set amongst trees and gardens.   There is a very varied menu giving a choice of Pakistani or European starters and main courses, the service is first class and the bar staff and waiters are very welcoming and attentive.  You can have a meal on the terrace at the front of the building or in the pleasant walled open courtyard at the rear.  There is also a large inside dining area with an open fire for winter dining.

As well as the restaurant, there are 4 self-catering chalets at the rear of the grounds which are available for rent, they are well equipped and have air conditioning.  For anyone wishing to use this accommodation, telephone Mo on 0533 860 6815.  Guests staying in the chalets have the use of the swimming pool within the grounds of the Courtyard where there is also a bar and patio area.

Mo, the proprietor, is pleased to announce that his resident singer, Brian Delaney, will continue to perform on Monday evenings, always a popular event, and in addition on Saturday 28th September and Friday 12th October there will be a curry supper night when the Gypsy Brothers will perform.   It is always wise to pre-book for music and entertainment nights so telephone Mo on 0533 860 6815 to reserve a table.

From time to time, Mo has had special events at the Courtyard and one of these was organised by Kyrenia Rehabilitation Centre (Cheshire Home) who arranged for an orchestra from Brittany in France to come to North Cyprus on an exchange programme and they joined with Turkish Cypriot musicians to give an excellent performance to an extremely large audience in the grounds of the Courtyard.  To see the article about this wonderful evening click Classic Evening.

The Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch has been negotiating with the owner of the Courtyard and is now pleased to announce that this will be their new headquarters as from 1st October 2012.  The move has been the result of members suggestions that the headquarters should be based closer and more central to Kyrenia and the committee authorised the Chairman, Major Brian Thomas BEM, and Vice Chairman, Les Evans, to look for alternative premises.   RBL has agreed a discount scheme with the Courtyard of 10% discount on all bills for drinks and food for all card carrying members at any RBL functions held on the premises.

For further info on future RBL events please take a regular look at the ‘What’s On’ area of the branch website at:www.rblkyrenia.com
