The Almond Hotel and Restaurant in Alsancak will be having a special Mother’s Day evening on Sunday 26th March from 6.30pm to 10pm when mothers can be spoiled with a sumptuous meal while being serenaded by Jamie (The Man in Black).
What do we know about Mother’s Day? It is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It complements similar celebrations honouring family members, such as Father’s Day, Siblings Day, and Grandparents Day.
So why not spoil your Mum on this special day and take her along to the Almond as a special treat.

On a recent visit to Al Shaheen Restaurant in Karakum, Imtiaz told us of 2 very special events coming soon and being a very popular venue for both expatriates and Turkish Cypriots they will both be booked up quickly.
The first event is Mothers Day on Sunday 6th March when there will be a 2-course roast lunch and live music from Katie B who will be entertaining from 2pm. A nice time to treat your mother or raise a glass or two to her memory.
The second and very special event is the 11th anniversary of Al Shaheen. Many will remember the restaurant near the mosque in Ozankoy where Al Shaheen spent the first year before moving to the present location in Karakum where they have built up a very popular restaurant over the past 10 years.
As a special treat Imtiaz and his staff would like to invite you to celebrate their anniversary with them on Thursday 10th March for a 2-course meal at 40TL, a complimentary local drink and live music from Mr Smile.

Following a superb Valentine’s Night event at Almond Holiday Village in Alsancak, we were treated to yet another brilliant evening with a Mothers’ Day dinner in the Copper Pot Restaurant. The Aşık family certainly know how to lay on a wonderful event for a special occasion and this was no exception with beautifully decorated tables, candles flickering and a delicious 4-course meal. When we arrived the ladies were given a pink carnation, a lovely touch.
Of course this would not have been complete without the entertainment of Andrew Sings….. and Andrew and Glen certainly made this an evening to remember with the growing repertoire of songs everyone loves, both for listening and dancing. The new slim-line Andrew looked very suave in one of his smart new waistcoats and dicky bow, he certainly looks the part of a great entertainer, which he certainly is.
We were a large party, which was arranged by Pam Blewitt, so all we had to do was go along and enjoy ourselves, with wining, dining and dancing to the great music. We sat in a different part of the restaurant this time and had a long table in a lovely alcove which didn’t separate us from the rest of the guests. The food was excellent and the waiters did their usual efficient work of making sure everyone was well looked after.
Thank you to Glen and Andrew for the use of their photographs, Chris decided not to make another video as he had made an excellent recording of the Valentine’s Night event and felt he couldn’t improve on it on this occasion. To see that wonderful evening have a look at the video below and to read the article please click here.
Once again many thanks to the Aşık family for a fantastic evening and we look forward to joining them for many more in the future.
