Paston Punch is a new community voice for Peterborough

A new chapter in community publishing has begun with the launch of Paston Punch, a hyperlocal online website and e-newspaper created to serve the residents of Paston, Peterborough, the wider local area, and readers around the world. Developed by Chris Elliott—founder and editor of CyprusScene—Paston Punch brings the same commitment to clarity, fairness, and community storytelling that has shaped his work across the UK and Cyprus for more than a decade.

Paston Punch has been designed as a people‑powered platform, giving residents, groups, and local organisations a place to share news, events, memories, and practical information. The aim is simple: to strengthen local identity and encourage neighbour‑to‑neighbour connection at a time when many communities feel increasingly fragmented.

A natural extension of community publishing

The idea for Paston Punch grew from Chris’s long-standing involvement in multicultural community journalism. Through CyprusScene, he has helped bridge UK–Cyprus stories, support local voices, and provide a platform for those often overlooked by mainstream media. Paston Punch now brings that same spirit home to Peterborough.

The new website features:

  • Local news and updates relevant to Paston, Peterborough, and surrounding areas
  • Community contributions, including stories, memories, and local history
  • A clear, accessible layout designed for easy reading on all devices
  • A simple subscription option for readers who want updates directly
  • A welcoming space for residents who wish to highlight local issues or achievements

Why Paston, and why now?

Paston is a diverse and fast-changing part of Peterborough, rich with stories but often lacking a dedicated platform to share them. Paston Punch aims to fill that gap by offering a friendly, inclusive space where residents can see their community reflected accurately and respectfully.

The project also supports a wider goal: encouraging local pride, improving communication between neighbours, and giving community groups a reliable place to promote their activities.

A message for CyprusScene’s international readers

CyprusScene has always connected people across borders, cultures, and communities. The launch of Paston Punch continues that mission by shining a light on local life in the UK while keeping the door open to contributions from readers around the world.

International readers who enjoy following UK community life are warmly invited to explore the new website and see how a local neighbourhood newspaper grows from the ground up. Those with UK-relevant news, reviews, memories, or community stories are encouraged to submit material for publication—helping strengthen the bridge between CyprusScene’s global audience and the communities of Peterborough and beyond.

As Chris explains, “Paston Punch is about giving people a voice. Every community deserves a place where its stories can be shared and preserved. I hope Paston residents—and our friends abroad—will see this as a shared space for positive, people-focused news.”
