Iskele Pier Festival Concludes After Ten Successful Days

The 53rd Traditional Pier Festival, organised by the Iskele Municipality, concluded after ten days of diverse events and high attendance. The festival commenced on June 27 with a performance by Mor ve Ötesi and was officially opened the same day. Each day attracted significant interest from both local residents and international visitors.

Festival Highlights

The closing event featured a concert by Sıla, one of Turkey’s leading artists, held in İskele Ecevit Square. The performance, which marked the conclusion of the festival on July 6, drew a large audience and received positive feedback for its quality and energy. Throughout the festival, notable performances included Levent Yüksel on July 2 and Ali Alkurt on July 3.

Beyond concerts, the festival brought together participants from seven countries and featured the 28th International Folk Dance Festival, Black Sea Night, Larnaca Night, Pier Rally, Benon Dervishes Cycling Competition, Tennis and Junior Astroturf Tournaments, Chess and Darts Competitions, Pier Archery, Flag Grabbing Contest from the Oiled Pole, Backgammon and Fishing Tournaments, Traditional Turkish Cypriot Night, Basketball Feast, and Children’s Festival. Additionally, charitable activities such as a blood donation campaign were organised in collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent of Northern Cyprus and the Thalassemia Association.

Security and Public Safety

Security was effectively managed throughout the event by teams from the İskele Police Department working alongside the Municipality Police Unit. A dedicated police and information point was established to ensure an immediate response to any incidents. The Health Unit nurses provided medical assistance during all activities and maintained a presence in the festival area. Daily checks by the Department of Environment and Health ensured compliance with hygiene standards in all food and beverage services.

The 53rd Iskele Pier Festival was conducted smoothly and safely, offering attendees memorable experiences and reinforcing its reputation as a prominent cultural event in the region.
