The Tulips stall at Lambousa Market has had a fantastic start to the year!

The Tulips stall at Lambousa market is going from strength to strength with a record amount of money raised on the first seven Saturdays of this year. 7,292 TL was raised in January and so far this month a fantastic figure of 6,489TL has been raised on the stall, all the money raised helps the Association fund treatment for an ever growing number of cancer patients, since the beginning of this year Tulips are now seeing 3 new patients every 2 days. This illustrates just how important this income is to the Association.

The happy Tulips Lambousa Market Stall ladies

Traditionally this time of the year is quiet at Lambousa Market but even more so this year because of the cold, wet weather we have been having. The Tulips stall at Lambousa is already well known amongst locals and the ex-pat community as the place to find good quality items at very good prices, selling everything from clothing, footwear and handbags to general bric-a-brac, books and dvd’s. From time to time the stall will have a theme like soft furnishings when good quality bedding and soft furnishings are for sale, one such stall was held in early February and this raised 1,000 TL.

This year the Association have introduced Tulips reusable bags, the Saturday before last was a ‘Tulips bag promotion day’ on the stall, with the invitation to ‘buy and fill a Tulips bag with 6 items of clothing or 6 books for a total of 25TL’. This was particularly well received and 1,800 TL was raised.

The Tulips bags at 15TL are proving very popular, the good news is that from next week in addition to the Tulips stall at Lambousa these will also be available from the Best Seller bookshops in Karakum and Alsancak, from Amore Beauty Salon in Lapta and are already available from Boutique Cyprus Gift Shop in Girne. Gill Moon will be selling the bags in the Esentepe area and she can be contacted on 0533 877 1036.

Of course with having such a busy stall at Lambousa they are always in need of more donations to keep up with demand, if you have any items that you would like to donate please give Lynda Hillard a call on 0533 873 1693, she is always happy to collect from you.  The Lambousa stall is run entirely by volunteers, if you could spare some time to help with the sorting and pricing of donations (this is done in Lapta) or would like to help on the stall on a Saturday morning please give Lynda a call.
