A follow-up to parts 1 and 2, which focused on the story of the abandoned Golden Sands Hotel in Varosha/Famagusta, Cyprus. This time, part 3 focuses on the lost and unfamiliar building known as ‘The Forum’. It was part of the Golden Sands Hotel complex run by Trusthouse Forte and designed by architects GCB and Associates.

There is also a feature about Urban exploration, also known as ‘Urbex ‘, and its impact on the area of Varosha in Cyprus. The video is non-monetised. Unfortunately, misinformation about the Golden Sands Hotel continues, such as the following from 2005… H. Koroglu (a retired policeman from Famagusta).

Q: Is the story of the 7-star hotel for real?

A: Yes, it is. Golden Sands. It was constructed in such a way that the stair steps nose corners were covered in gold. That is where the name Golden Sands comes from. There were no security guards at its entrance. The hotel was open and in operation for 7-8 years.

There were rails as you entered, which helped you park your car. Elevators were directly leading to your room. Food service was done through a service elevator leading to your room only.’

Not from the above source, but there is also a claim online that there was also a train to transport you around the complex.
