Akıncı: “The problem is not in the UN parameters but in the mentality of the Greek Cypriot Administration”
TRNC President Akıncı who made the opening speech at the 9th Bosphorus Summit entitled “Sustaining Peace and Development for All” held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Turkish Republic answered the questions of Haber Turk in İstanbul.
In an interview published yesterday (28th November) regarding the negotiations with the Greek Cypriot Administration, Akıncı said: “The problem is not in UN parameters, but in the mentality of the Greek Cypriot Administration”, he also mentioned the energy tension in the Eastern Mediterranean, adding that “If you are drilling and not listening, then I will drill too.”
Özersay: “We will endeavour to eliminate the problems at the current border gates”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Tolga Atakan and some bureaucrats visited Beyarmudu and Pile.
In his statement regarding the visit, Özersay said: “We have evaluated what can be done in order to overcome the problems at the border crossings from time to time and also listened to the problems and opinions of the citizens in the region. We obtained information from our police at the crossings and we met with our mukhtars on both sides and received their suggestions.”
Noting that they have supported the opening of the gates of Derinya and Aplıç, Özersay emphasized the importance of overcoming the difficulties of the current border gates and facilitating the daily life of citizens in the coming period.
Özersay also added that they will carry out studies in this direction.

In a statement released after Turkey’s National Security Council (NSC) meeting, it has been said that “No development will be allowed to violate the rights and interests of Turkey and the TRNC”
The statement recorded that Turkey’s rights and interests in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean were evaluated within the framework of recent developments, and continued as: “The unilateral initiatives in the region towards violating the international law and confrontation ventures will not contribute to world peace. On the other hand our determination based on the compliance with international law and the will of the Parliament should be taken into account. It is confirmed that no development will be allowed to violate the rights and interests of Turkey and the TRNC.”
Uluçay to attend APA meeting
The Speaker of the TRNC Assembly Teberrüken Uluçay will attend the 11th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in İstanbul as the guest of his Turkish counterpart Binali Yıldırım.
Erhürman met with Spehar
Prime Minister and CTP Leader Tufan Erhürman yesterday (28/11/2018) met with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Head of Mission in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar.
The meeting at which the latest stage reached on the Cyprus issue was discussed continued for an hour.
