First match in charge for New Esentepe Coach

By Richard Beale….

On Monday 5th November Necati Tilki took over as Techical Director of Esentepe and his first match is a tough one away to 6th place Cihangir.

CİHANGİR SK will play ESENTEPE KKSK on Saturday November 10th with kick off at 2.30pm in the K-Pet Super League at Cihangir Stadium.

A new chapter in the history of Esentepe KKSK began on Monday with Necati Tilki taking over the responsibility of trying to keep Esentepe in the Super League. He is a relatively inexperienced Coach having managed lower League Clubs Görne, Akıncılar and Valdılı. He is 52 years old and I am told was an outstanding footballer in his younger days with Gönyeli.

He watched last Sunday’s defeat on 4th November at home by Mağusa Türk Gücü but would have been encouraged by Esentepe’s battling display against a much more talented team.

However he still will be without suspended central defender Moses and behind the scenes there has been internal problems with a couple of players over disciplinary matters.

Cihangir at 6th place in the table have had a reasonable start, with 3 wins 2 draws and 2 defeats. There is a little encouragement for Esentepe as both defeats have been at home 1-4 v Merit Alsancak and 1-2 v Gönyeli.

Their leading goal scorer is left winger Omodiagbe Victory a 23 year old Nigerian who has netted 4

times this season. He had a market value once in season 2017-18 of £90,000 when playing for Egyptian Club Pharco FC.

Whereas Esentepe have played virtually all the top 6 Clubs in a short space of time Cihangir have played mostly middle table Clubs or below.

Esentepe’s problems are upfront and somehow they must find a system that gives striker Odi more support, we must try and hold onto the ball in our opponents half of the field more to take pressure off our defence.

The last time Esentepe played Cihangir was in the Super League back in 2009-10 which resulted in a 2-1 win for Cihangir.

Cihangir is on the main Geçitkale – Lefkoşa main road and the village is not far from the flyover which takes you to Ercan Airport so please come along and support your local team.
