There was a crowded House for FAKE, the hip BritPop/Indie and Rock band who were guests at The Soulist Coffee and Music House in Alsancak. The November events at The Soulist started last weekend on November 2nd with an outstanding concert by FAKE from Istanbul. Whenever FAKE appear, they present their music with high quality standards. FAKE were performing for the 5th time in the Soulist and convinced the audience again with their program.  Outstanding Sükrü Kazaz on drums, with unbelievable Cem Çakır on Vocals + Guitar and a brilliant Tansu Kizilirmak on bass + vocals celebrated a special performance.

FAKE has now developed a fan base in Northern Cyprus and again there was a specially arranged program for them.  Right after the first song they had a packed audience. In the show, among others, there were songs by Depeche Mode, U2, Muse, Coldplay and Queen.  It is just great what this 3-piece band achieve with their own arrangements of the original songs to present to the audience. Precision, love for the details of the songs and the love of music were felt.

With the compulsory “I Feel You” from Depeche Mode, FAKE set off. There was a spark immediately over the audience, you could feel it, “sing along and dance” was now announced.  From the over 2 hour program here are some highlights: Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand), Crazy Little Thing Called Love, You Don`t Fool Me (Queen), Desire, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Where The Streets Have No Name (U2), Losing My Religion (REM), Enjoy the Silence (Depeche Mode), Living On My Own (Freddie Mercury), Uprising, Starlight (Muse), Clocks (Coldplay). The highlight of this evening was the new Queen songs the band had in their repertoire. Somebody to Love, Another One Bites the Dust and Living on my Own. Really great.

With Undisclosed Desires (Muse) and Love Song by Cure, FAKE ended this successful evening.

Résumé of the evening – great musicians with an excellent concert and a great audience, which knew how to appreciate the performance of the band.

Feedback from the Band:

“North Cyprus is always a very special destination for us since we have a very unique and strong connection with the audience. They are always participating in songs with passion and emotion. We’re also very glad that we received lots of compliments about our performance of the new Queen songs that we added to our setlist for this very special show.  Also we’d like to thank The Soulist, which has always been a very good host for us.“
