President Akıncı met with Mogherini in New York

 President Mustafa Akıncı met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini within the framework of his contacts in New York.

The Cyprus issue and the relationships between the Turkish Cypriot side and the EU were discussed and they also exchanged views at the meeting which was held at 00.30 Cyprus time at the EU Delegation building in New York.

President Mustafa Akıncı conveyed his thoughts to Federica Mogherini regarding the sensitivity and expectations of the Turkish Cypriot people, who always proved their determination to resolve the Cyprus issue and also mentioned his thoughts about the constructive role that should be played by the EU.

Akıncı – Guterres meeting brought forward to Friday 28th September

The meeting of President Mustafa Akıncı with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York has been re-scheduled and will now be held a day earlier than previously announced.

Akıncı and Guterres will meet on Friday (28th September, 2018) following a request from the UN-Secretary General.

The meeting will take place at 19.40 (New York time) and at 02.40 (Cyprus time).

Özersay met with Di Carlo in New York

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay had a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Rosemary Di Carlo within the framework of his New York contacts.

Özersay said that they had an opportunity to discuss the issues at the highest level and express their views to the United Nations regarding what should be done in the future.
