North Cyprus is still having problems with distemper in dogs and people need to be vigilant and aware that this disease is still around.

“I have just lost Sascha to distemper, she showed signs last night and this morning tested positive and was so severe she would not have lasted the day. I’ve been told by a vet that the winter months will only get worse for dogs getting this disease and the only answer is to get hold of all the dogs you can and vaccinate them and hope for the best. People dumping dogs with distemper in areas that are doing something about it does not help in any way, so please everyone do what you can because whatever people say about it’s getting better, I’ve lost 6 in a month now and these were all dogs dumped from other areas.”
We are so sorry to hear Rob’s news, he does so much for the stray and abandoned dogs in his area and we know how attached he is to them and how upset he is at losing yet another to distemper, by unfeeling and uncaring people dumping dogs without any thought that they may have health issues which will affect other animals in the area.
NOTE: FOR EVERY STREET DOG WHICH IS CHECKED BY A VET AND VACCINATED, IT WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF DISTEMPER SPREADING.
