President Mustafa Akıncı stated that the parties will meet in New York in September with an agenda for the Cyprus issue.

Akıncı made a statement yesterday about his meeting with the parties in the coalition government and the recent developments in Cyprus.

“There will probably be meetings with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres towards the end of September,” Akıncı added.

Reminding that the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ temporary envoy to Cyprus, Jane Holl Lute, met with the leaders in Cyprus, and also with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Akıncı said “As we know, Lute is going to visit Athens, London and Brussels in the  first half of September and will be presenting her report to the Secretary-General in mid-September.”

Indicating that they will also find the opportunity to evaluate the steps that can be taken in the light of this report with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Akıncı said, “We wish the outcome of the meetings to be able to form a basis for good developments in Cyprus. I wish to meet in the manner of logic.

  1. Lute is not going to Turky so he should not be surprised if one side (the turkis) will later say he is biased
