The second memorial service to be held at the Cyprus Rock Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, UK, is on Sunday 19th August 2018 at 11am.
The following information has been received from David Littlemore, who did so much to bring about this long awaited UK memorial and the eventual unveiling of the Cyprus Rock on 21st August 2016 at the National Memorial Arboretum. We were in the UK at that time and were so pleased to be able to attend that wonderful occasion.
“It will be a similar service to last year and all veterans, their families and supporters will be welcome to attend. As all veterans of the Cyprus Emergency will be in their 80’s, it has been requested that there is no parade or march to the Memorial but Standards and the laying of wreaths will be welcome. We will all meet at the Memorial by about 10.45hrs for the service to start at 11.00hrs. We will return to the restaurant after the service for refreshments and the sharing of memories”.
The program for the service is in PDF format and can be seen by clicking here
Sadly, as we are in the TRNC, it is not possible to attend the memorial service, but we hope as many veterans as possible will be able to make the journey to the Arboretum for the service and also hope to see many of the Cyprus veterans for the Remembrance Service in Kyrenia in November.
Enjoy the day and your memories.
