Two “Old Boys” are coming home to Esentepe

By Richard Beale ….

Further good news this week for Esentepe KKSK is the return of two “old boys” back to the fold. Last Wednesday saw the re-signing of KAĞAN GORNEÇLI and ALI KARAL, this with the earlier news of Coach DAVUT KANSU signing on for a further season, it has been a very good week for the Club.

Both players have been “loaned” out for the past couple of seasons, enabling Esentepe to reap monetary reward for some of their prized assets.

It is specially pleasing to see the return of Kağan or Kaan, I nicknamed him the “Maestro” as he is an exceptionally talented footballer. Esentepe have been missing such a “playmaker” in midfield and being only 23 he has nearly 200 appearances behind him, 48 in the Supa League. He last played for Esentepe in season 2015-16, before being loaned to Değirmenlik helping them gain promotion to the Supa League. For the last two seasons he has been loaned out to Lefkoşa based giants GAÜ Çetinkaya. Unfortunately last season was cut short, when he sustained a serious knee injury which required an operation. He has been putting the miles in training often seen running along Esentepe beach, trying to gain full fitness. A fit again Kaan is a major plus for Esentepe hopes of surviving in the Supa League.

Goalkeeper Ali Karal (25), has spent 8 seasons with Esentepe before being “loaned” out to Supa League Gençler Birliği and then Türk Ocak last season.

Ali is an exceptional shot stopper, despite not being tall he is excellent in dealing with crosses. There is no doubt again that he will be kept very busy next season!

Both players work and live in Esentepe, they are Esentepe boys, their hearts are in Esentepe.
