Having known Gűlseren Sadak for around 14 years, I was delighted to learn that she would be giving a piano recital at Bellapais Abbey on the 10th May, as part of the 14th International Bellapais Spring Festival (11th April to 12th May).
Gűlseren, and her late husband Ali Yaliman, at one time lived very close to me and Gűlseren was known locally by the British expat community as Rosa. Many have now left our area so maybe the name Rosa is only known by a few of us who remain.
The piano recital will include some of Gűlseren’s favourite composers – Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninov and will start at 8.30pm. Tickets are 40TL and are available at Deniz Plaza shops, Hotel Bellapais Gardens, Dome Hotel, Kybele Restaurant, Bellapais Ticket Office and at the entrance on the night.
I was very moved when Gűlseren played for me at her home when I called to visit her in the past and I am really looking forward to hearing her play again at Bellapais Abbey.
