Folk Dancing Camp in Lapta

By Ahmet Abdulaziz….

Lapta hosted a three day camp, organised by the Near East College, for  students interested in Folk dancing.

Twenty two young aspiring dancers from the college went through disciplined training of the popular folk dances under the supervision of Gamze Bensel and Uney Bensel. The students not only learned the dances but also found an opportunity to develop better understanding with each other, that would help in developing a well adjusted team of dancers.

Gamze Bensel, one of the organisers of the camp, emphasised that folk dancing helps in improving self-confidence and discipline among the students, which ultimately makes them more responsible in every field.

The theatre team of the school also participated in the camp as part of their practice of drama. They are scheduled to start their performance of drama in March.
