Mo Khan’s birthday celebration and new venture

By Margaret Sheard ….

We were invited to attend the celebration of Mo Khan’s birthday on Saturday 24th February at his new venture restaurant – Balti House (formerly Fine Dining) in Esentepe.

There were many people there when we arrived enjoying the 2-course meal that Mo had laid on for his guests.  We ordered our starters of poppadoms and onion bhaji’s followed by a chicken curry and vegetable curry – delicious.

There was a disco/karaoke for later in the evening and I found that this was with 3 members of The Abnormals who do so much voluntary work for Tulips – Susie Ford, Martin Ford and Martin Foster.  Martin Ford had a few words with Mo to wish him a happy birthday and everyone joined in with their good wishes to the strains of “Happy Birthday to you” and later in the evening the tempo picked up with some of the old favourites.

Then a birthday cake arrived, we were just about to disappear but were persuaded to wait and have a piece of cake, which was very nice and rounded off the evening perfectly.  Many thanks to Mo and his staff who rushed around all evening to make sure everyone was happy.

I asked Mo to give me a bit of information about himself and this is what he told me :

I was born in Pakistan in 21.02.1983.  I came to Cyprus for Higher Education and after I finished my university studies I started work at the Ambiance Restaurant in Kyrenia, where I stayed for two years, then moved to Esentepe and started work as Receptionist at the Korineum Golf and Beach Resort for the next 4 years.  Now I am opening my own restaurant, which will be called Balti House, in Esentepe (this was formerly a restaurant called Fine Dining).

We wish Mo every success with his new venture and are sure he will be very successful.
