The Paragliding World Cup 2018 “Paragliding Accuracy World Cup” started with a cortege and opening ceremony in Girne yesterday (15th February).

The opening ceremony, which was held in Girne Kordonboy, was attended by Prime Minister – Tufan Erhürman, Finance Minister – Serdar Denktas, Tourism and Environment Minister – Fikri Ataoglu, TRNC Air Sports Federation President – Zeki Ziya, Girne Municipality Mayor – Nidai Güngördü, Tatlisu Municipality Mayor – Hayri Orçan and Hasan Karaokçu on behalf of the Anti-Drug Commission and many citizens also attended.

20 countries and 115 athletes participated in the contest held in Tatlısu between 16th and 18th February 2018. At the opening ceremony, the athletes came together at the informing meeting held at Girne Municipality Art Gallery and the result of the draw established. Organized by the International Federation of Air Sports, the organization category is of great importance in terms of ensuring that it scores points for the world cup.

The first leg of the world cup is in the TRNC.  The contest will continue in Kazakhstan on 4 May, in Indonesia on July 13, in Canada on October 5, in Nepal on November 2, and in Albania on 14 December.

Tatlısu Municipality, Air Sports Federation, Anti-Drug Control Commission, Civil Defence Organization, Turkish Aeronautical Association and BRT contributed to the competition with Girne Municipality.
