No it was not some intervention from a heavenly body, but 2 goals from Chinonso Godswill Offor and was enough to end Esentepe’s dream of a Cup run in this season’s Kibris Cup.

As expected Supa League Club Cihangir overcame a spirited Esentepe side to book their place in the next round of the Kibris Cup. Since the mid season break Esentepe numbers have been decimated with transfers and injuries, resulting in the home team unable to field the full quota of replacements on the bench.
A week ago Esentepe played Cihangir in a friendly match and were well beaten 4-0. it took only 2 minutes for Cihangir to carry on where they left off scoring when GODSWILL OFFOR put in a good header from a Mikail cross giving reserve goalkeeper Hüseyin Ikinci in the Esentepe goal no chance. 0-1.
Godswill Offor was unlucky not to score again in the 32nd minute when he met a Quincy cross with a spectacular overhead kick only to see his acrobatic effort cannon off the Esentepe crossbar.
The Nigerian striker was not to be denied when on the stroke of half time when Ozotite crossed to the far post where Ertan knocked it down to GODSWILL OFFOR who tried another acrobatic scissor/overhead kick which looped over Hüseyin’s head and into the net.

Esentepe who in the first half failed to trouble Raif in the Cihangir goal had their best chance of the match in the 47th minute. A through ball from Emre Mutlu found Ahmet who managed to get in a shot that Raif pushed away for a corner.
Cihangir hit the Esentepe woodwork again in the 78th minute when Ozotite burst through to unleash a ferocious shot that cannoned back from Hüseyin’s right hand post.
Esentepe competed well putting in a lot of hard work to contain Cihangir, with limited options for the Coach, the home side were doing well to constrain their illustrious Super League opponents. FULL TIME SCORE : 0-2
SUMMING UP : Not a bad effort from Esentepe, who competed well in defence and in midfield. With the shock transfer of Hasan Ozçelik to rivals Maraş and fellow striker Eser sidelined after a back operation Esentepe’s only option was to give teenager under 19 striker Hürkan a start.
I thought defenders Hasan Songur and Onur did well to limit the dangerous Godswill and in midfield another teenager Yakup again had a storming game.
