To quote a line from a Ringo Starr hit of the early 70’s for Esentepe it definitely don’t come any easier when Esentepe travel to Lefkoşa on Saturday where they face second place and informed Hamitkoy.

Details : Saturday 25 November : K-Pet League 1 : ko 2-00pm.

HAMITKÖY ŞHSK v ESENTEPE KKSK

(Hamitköy Esat Erdoğmuş Stadı)

Esentepe face their hardest test of season, as Hamitköy have won their last 7 matches. We now are in week 10 of the season, Hamitköy have only seen defeat in their second match of this campaign.

Hamitköy are similar to Esentepe in some ways having tasted Super League football in small spells. Both Clubs seemed to have spent most of their lives in the First Division, with the odd demotion to League 2.

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS!

The prolific ÖZGÜR ONGUN

In the Hamitköy team is an old adversary in striker ÖZGÜR ONGUN, who is League 1 leading goalscorer on 12 goals. The 31 year old striker relishes playing against Esentepe as he always seems to score against us. He started his career at Alsancak, and has played for Gençlik Gücü, Türk Ocak and Girne Halk Evi and has been a prolific goalscorer for all those Clubs. According to the KKTF website he has played 175 games in all competitions scoring 137 goals a phenomenal record. I would love to know what his scoring record is against Esentepe as we have fallen foul to him on many occasions.

Esentepe are battling away and currently lie in 6th place, which is pretty good for a limited squad. They have sold a number of talented players, but with a combination of hard work, excellent team spirit they are making a decent fist of it so far this season. I expect the team will be unchanged after expectantly overcoming another in form team Maras last weekend. Hopefully striker Turan İlçiktay hamstring injury will have eased and he may be able to take a place on the bench.

Esentepe were robbed of a thrilling victory when Hamitköy equalised in the 92 minute, when their goalkeeper AHMET (6ft 2”) came up for a free kick and got his head to the ball to score.

Esentepe took the lead in the 4th minute with a great shot from KAAN.

Hamitköy equalised in the 56th minute when MEHMET ÇİL scored direct from a free kick.

Substitute ESER scored in the 73rd minute, after being put through from a perfect pass from Kaan.

Kaan was outstanding and was the best player on the park

PREDICTION : Winning 7 games on the bounce is tremendous, but surely that cannot go on, I predict a 1-1 draw with another gritty and plucky Esentepe performance.
