Speaking to the Diyalog newspaper, former TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu said that the party which always left the negotiating table and refused to sign agreements throughout the course of the Cyprus negotiations had consistently been the Greek Cypriot side, and that this should be explained to the world.

Speaking to the publication, Eroğlu discussed domestic and foreign politics, saying “If the embargoes are lifted, the Turkish Cypriot people will feel very relieved. Countries – especially European countries – should lift these shameful and inhumane embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriots”.

The Greek Cypriot Administration prevents foreign scientists from working in the TRNC with threats

The Head of the Eastern Mediterranean University’s Cultural Heritage Research Centre,  Assistant Professor Bülent Kızılduman, said that the Greek Cypriot Administration is trying to prevent foreign scientists from carrying out archaeological work in the TRNC through threats, saying that if they do, they will not be allowed to undertake archaeological excavations in Greece or the Greek Cypriot part of the island.

He noted that despite these threats, 26 scientists and students from Turkey, Germany, Italy and Albania, as well as from the TRNC, took part in the International Kaleburnu King Hill Rescue Excavation Project. However, Kızılduman said, “Due to the threats being made by the Greek Cypriot side, not only are many European scientists prevented from working in the TRNC, but European scientific institutions also can’t obtain funding for projects in the TRNC”

  1. And why shouldn’t they insist on a fair solution for all? The Turks, have, after all, invaded a CYPRIOT country. I think your report is unfair, biased and disregards the emotions of all CYPRIOTS whether they are Greek Cypriot or Turkish Cypriot. Turkey’s invasion left many of their own people homeless, destitute and with refugee status too…let’s not forget that.
