I am delighted together with my colleague Qossay Eleyan to bring you our interesting report on “Discovering North Cyprus” from the Arabahmet Mosque in the western part of Lefkosa with views nearby of the Ledra Palace Hotel and crossing.

The Mosque was built in the 17th century on the remains of an old Latin church and it is named after the Ottoman commander, Arab Ahmed Pasha, who led the Ottoman armies during the conquest of Nicosia.

The mosque which is the only mosque with a dome in Nicosia, was restored in 1845 and has the graves of 8 well known people of Nicosia of those times in its grounds and the mosque remains in use to this day.

This show will be transmitted on BRT2 on Monday 27th March at 19.00pm and repeated on Sunday 2nd April at 12.20pm.
